Bluebonnet Parrots can be found in the low shrub layers of bluebush & saltbush, also Bluebonnets can be found in scatterd trees or woodland on the trees Myall, Mulga and native pine. They can also be found in lightly timbered grasslands, sand-dunes, and in Northwestern Victoria on roadsides & partial cleared farmlands.

  • Care:

    Its optimal to have large cage with 1/4 inch bar spacing, enough space to play & exercise. Filled Food & Water bowls are needed 24/7 for the bird to stay healthy and hydrated. Toys are a must and treats for the bird to be happy. Once a week offer a bath in shallow water or mist the bird. Exercise is needed for 2-3 hours a day, let the bird spread its wings and flap its wings to exercise wing muscles. Let the bird walk and climb to exercise legs and feet, also let the bird chew on toys to work on jaw muscles.

  • Diet:

    Seeds, Pellets, Fruits, and Vegetables shall all be provided 24/7 & be balanced. Cuttle Bone must provided for calcium and vitamin blocks for vitamins. Also water soluble vitamins are optimal, such as the brand Nekton.

  • Gender Differentiation:

    (Adults Dimorphic), (Juveniles Homomorphic), & (Babies Homomorphic). Adult Male & Female Bluebonnet Parrots dimorphic at the age 12 months, to differentiate adult Male & Female you must look at plumage. A mature adult Male are physically larger in general and have a larger head & a wider body, however sometimes this is not always the case some genetic traits can cause Male to be smaller. Also mature adult Males plumage color is more vibrant blue and red on their bodies, the vibrant blue is especially shown more on the head. While a mature adult Female will have a duller plumage and is generally smaller physically. On Baby & Juvenile Hooded Parrots under age of 12 months can be homomorphic, meaning Males and Females look a like.
