Origin or Natural Habitat:
Originating from Semi-Arid Areas Northeast Australia in savannah and woodlands. Hooded Parrots burrow in termite mounds then live and make nest inside of them.

Care:
Its optimal to have large cage with 1/4 inch bar spacing, enough space to play & exercise. Filled Food & Water bowls are needed 24/7 for the bird to stay healthy and hydrated. Toys are a must and treats for the bird to be happy. Once a week offer a bath in shallow water or mist the bird. Exercise is needed for 2-3 hours a day, let the bird spread its wings and flap its wings to exercise wing muscles. Let the bird walk and climb to exercise legs and feet, also let the bird chew on toys to work on jaw muscles.

Diet:
Seeds, Pellets, Fruits, and Vegetables shall all be provided 24/7 & be balanced. Cuttle Bone must provided for calcium and vitamin blocks for vitamins. Also water soluble vitamins are optimal, such as the brand Nekton.

Gender Differentiation:
(Adults Dimorphic), (Juveniles Homomorphic), & (Babies Homomorphic). Adult Male & Female Hooded Parrots dimorphic at the age 12 to 18 months, to differentiate adult Male & Female Hooded Parrots you must look at plumage. A mature adult Male is vibrant & distinct in plumage, adult Males have a black hooded over head, vibrant turquoise blue color that extends from the face to all the way down to lower body, has a black back, and has golden barring at the edge of the wings. While a mature adult Female will have a duller plumage, has no black hood over head, will have green back, and has no golden barring on the edge of the wings. On Baby & Juvenile Hooded Parrots under age of 12 to 18 months they are homomorphic and have a dull plumage color green & turquoise blue. When ordering Hooded Parrots please select DNA option to guarantee the gender, Hooded Parrots can be Homomorphic depending upon age.
